Michael Leroy Byrd. (Assassins always have. Three. Names.)
The shooting occurred at the east entrance to the Speaker’s Lobby. After demonstrators filled the hallway outside the lobby, two individuals in the crowded, tightly packed hallway struck and dislodged the glass panels in the lobby doors and the right door sidelight. Lt. Byrd, who is a USCP commander and was the incident commander for the House on 6 JAN 2021, shot Ashli on sight as she raised herself up into the opening of the right door sidelight.
I wasn’t outraged until I was made aware of the outrageous facts below. Judicial Watch filed a $30 million wrongful death lawsuit against Uncle Sugar on behalf of Ashli Babbitt’s husband and estate.
Here are things we must never forget:
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd, on 6 JAN 21 o/a 1444 HRS gunned down Ashli Babbitt (an unarmed civilian) in cold blood and THEN radioed for help claiming shots were fired (his was the only shot ever fired during the entire 4-hour event).
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd confessed he shot Ashli before seeing her hands.
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd confessed he shot Ashli before assessing her intentions.
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd confessed he shot Ashli prior to even being able to identify her (he did not know she was female, and petite, who stood 5-foot-2 and weighed 110 pounds).
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd was not in uniform.
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd did not identify himself as a police officer.
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd did not otherwise make his presence known to Ashli.
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd did not give Ashli any warnings or commands before shooting her dead.
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd did, at 1445 HRS, or within one minute after shooting Ashli, make the following radio call: “405B. We got shots fired in the lobby. We got shots shots fired in the lobby of the House chamber. Shots are being fired at us and we’re sh, uhh, prepared to fire back at them” (his was the only shot ever fired during the entire 4-hour event).
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd did, approximately 35 seconds later, make another radio call, stating, “405B. We got an injured person. I believe that person was shot.”
😠 Michael Leroy Byrd was never charged or otherwise punished or disciplined for Ashli’s homicide.

🤔 Does it matter Ashli was a 14-year USAF veteran? Nope.
🤔 Does it matter she was a Trump supporter? Nada.
🤔 Does it matter Ashli was associated with QAnon? Regardless of what we think about QAnon, it’s irrelevant.
🤔 Does it matter she opposed COVID masking and vaccinations? No matter how badly Fauci lied to the People about COVID, it’s immaterial.
🤔 Does it matter Ashli was disgruntled over the dismal condition of the federal government? While the government continues to amass a litany of violations regarding its constitutional proscriptions, the track record of its corruption cannot justify her death, though it certainly helps to explain why it happened, why it was covered up and why it was never punished.
🤔 Does it matter she has been smeared a “conspiracy theorist?” No matter how much the government uses that psycholinguistic tool to deflect analysis in order to achieve memetic hegemony, the label has no bearing on the murder.
🤔 Does it matter Ashli was female (for those who are unsure, like Justice Ketanji Jackson, it means her congenital vagina was obtained in vivo)? Seriously not.
🤔 Does it matter she was white? Does it matter Byrd was not?
🤔 Does it matter Ashli was unarmed? Undoubtedly.
🤔 Does it matter that her hands were up in the air, empty, and in plain view of Michael Leroy Byrd and other officers in the lobby? Assuredly it maters, as she was brandishing no weapon.
🤔 Did Ashli exhibit common sense during this event? No way!
🤔 Was it a good idea for her to try to crawl though a broken window of the lobby door barricaded by furniture? See above.
🤔 Did Ashli’s lack of self-control lead to her decease? Yeppers!
🤔 Was her homicide justified? Not by any stretch of the imagination!
🤔 Does it matter Ashli posed no threat to the safety of anyone, as not one member of Congress was in the lobby, which was guarded by multiple armed police officers? Of course.
🤔 Does it matter that the government had her body cremated just 48 hours after her execution and without the permission of her husband? Yes, no further investigation can be done on a body that no longer exists.
🤔 Does it matter that Representative Marjorie Greene (R) claimed Ashli was “trying to stop other January 6 protesters from breaking into the Speaker’s Lobby”? Not really. Greene can claim what she wants, but available video does not conclusively corroborate her story and Ashli isn’t around to ask.
🤔 Does it matter the officers standing in front of the lobby, instead of remaining at their post, chose to step aside and allow protestors direct access to the doors (and the glass panels thereof)? Invariably so.
🤔 Does the testimony of Sgt. Timothy Lively matter—he was one of the armed officers guarding the lobby doors from the hallway—when he explained there was no way Ashli could have seen Michael Leroy Byrd, as he told officials investigating the shooting, “I saw him . . . there was no way that woman would’ve seen that”? Obviously it matters.
🤔 Does it matter 1) that Michael Leroy Byrd “did not create a police report or documents” related to the murder of Ashli; or 2) that he was allowed to voluntarily debrief on 29 JAN 2021 (23 days after the incident); or 3) that he refused to supply an official statement on the use of force; or 4) that no grand jury was empaneled to investigate the shooting death; or 5) that a missing evidence bag has still not been located? Yes, it speaks to the reprehensible level of unprofessionalism and degradation the USCP (and, by extension, Congress) gets paid to enjoy.
🤔 Does it matter Michael Leroy Byrd was, at the time of the execution, in possession of a history of safety violations, including 1) being guilty of leaving his loaded Glock 22 unattended in a bathroom (lawmakers only found out about it through a reporter); 2) being guilty of having his police powers revoked on more than one occasion for failing to meet or complete semiannual firearms qualification requirements; and 3) being guilty of having his police powers revoked for an off-duty shooting involving him firing multiple shots at a fleeing vehicle in a suburban area where stray bullets from his firearm struck the sides of homes nearby, the official investigation of which found his use of force was not justified? My gawd, it HAS to matter!
🤔 Did Michael Leroy Byrd conduct himself irrationally and unjustifiably? The question answers itself. That he was still employed speaks to the character of the Capitol Police, Capitol Police Board and ultimately Congress, as they “knew or should have known that Lt. Byrd was prone to behave in a dangerous or otherwise incompetent manner.” That Kevin McCarthy (R), then Speaker of the House, could on one hand exclaim “I think the police officer did his job” and on the other hand renege on his promise to disclose the J6 video to the public so that the People could make up their own minds, speaks to the duplicitous machinations of Congressional leadership itself. That Speaker Mike Johnson (R), who replaced McCarthy, felt he needed “to blur some faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don’t want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DOJ” while knowing full well the DOJ already possessed the raw footage prior to his statement, speaks to the inept and manipulative hypocrisy of Congress in general and of the republican party faction in particular.
🤔 Did Michael Leroy Byrd, when he ambushed Ashli, breach multiple, applicable standards of care governing, at minimum, (A) the safe use of a firearm; (B) the perception and assessment of imminent threats; (C) use of force levels and escalation/de-escalation of force; (D) the perception and assessment of relevant facts; (E) the use of warnings; (F) firing backdrops; and (G) obtaining timely, appropriate medical aid? Abso‑frikkin’‑lutely.
⚖️ Excerpts from the damning court documents:
Lt. Byrd erroneously believed he was “trapped” because he and others had barricaded the lobby doors at both ends of the lobby. “Once we barricaded the doors we were essentially trapped where we were,” he said. “Uh, there was no way to retreat, uh, no other way to, uh, get out, uh, because we had did both sides of that corridor, so you’re essentially trapped,” he added. A reasonably prudent officer in Lt. Byrd’s position would have been aware that, in fact, only the doors on the east end of the lobby had been barricaded. The doors on the west end, which were used to evacuate House members from the chamber, had not been barricaded and remained open at the time of the shooting.
Lt. Byrd erroneously believed there were no officers present in the hallway on the opposite side of the east lobby doors. “I had no knowledge that those officers were there, I had no visual or communication with them,” he said. “There was no call over the radio, uh, explaining to me that these officers were there,” he said. A reasonably prudent officer in Lt. Byrd’s position would have been aware that, in fact, three armed USCP officers had been ordered to guard the barricaded east lobby doors and were standing in the hallway with their backs to the doors until just moments before the shooting, when they moved to the adjacent wall then began descending the stairs to the lower level as four CERT officers reached the hallway after ascending the stairs. Not only should Lt. Byrd, as incident commander, have known that the three officers were in the hallway just outside the east lobby doors, but the officers were clearly visible from inside the lobby through the lobby door windows. All three officers were in uniform, their police patches were visible through the windows, and at least one was wearing a USCP ballcap.
Lt. Byrd erroneously believed he shot Ashli “to save the lives of members of Congress and myself and my fellow officers,” believing Ashli was “a threat.” A reasonably prudent officer in Lt. Byrd’s position would have been aware that, in fact, Ashli was unarmed, small in stature, and did not pose a threat of imminent death or serious physical injury to Lt. Byrd or anyone else by merely climbing through the window. Lt. Byrd admitted, “I could not fully see her hands or what was in the backpack or what the intentions of.” “[I]t was later, you know, I found out that the subject did not have a weapon,” he added.
In fact, Lt. Byrd did not give Ashli any commands or warnings. Any commands or warnings Lt. Byrd believes he may have given could only have been directed at Alam and Jones, the two individuals who were striking the lobby doors and shattering the glass panels in the doors. Moreover, Lt. Byrd admitted that “it’s possible” his “warning” was inadequate. “It is possible,” he said, that people on the other side of the lobby doors could not hear him, because he could not hear what they were saying. Nor could people see Lt. Byrd verbally speaking. “I know it was difficult for anyone to see me verbally speaking because we were wearing, uh, the masks because of COVID,” he said.
🤔 Did Michael Leroy Byrd, during public MSM interviews, lie through his teeth about any of the events he had prior confessed to? Yes he did, by 1) claiming Ashli posed a threat, 2) claiming he gave verbal commands to stop, 3) claiming he needed to save the lives of members of Congress, etc.
🤔 Will Michael Leroy Byrd be promoted to Captain for a job well done due, in part, to his performance on 6 JAN 2021, for the assassination of Ashli? It seems so.
